At Tumbles, we expanded on traditional STEM education with innovative STEAM classes that teach art in addition to science, technology, engineering and math.
But we didn’t stop there. We also encourage kids to “feel” what they’re learning about with a variety of lessons in our gym environment that help increase retention and boost physical activity. Whether they’re in our STEAM lab or kids’ gym, your little one will learn to think critically and creatively, develop solutions, hypothesize results and test for accuracy—all while having a blast.
There are lots of STEM classes for kids out there. But the Tumbles STEAM program takes a unique full-body experiential approach that reinforces science, technology, engineering, art and math lessons with physical activities—so both brains and bodies get a workout.
While our STEAM program is tons of fun, it’s also grounded in international standards for math, science and literacy. All class activities require students to use Tumbles STEAM Thinking; a creative and critical design thinking process that encourages kids to find the best answer to a problem—not just an acceptable one.
Help! Our favorite storybook characters are in trouble! Our little scientists and engineers will help some of the most well known characters out of their predicaments. Jack needs to get down from the beanstalk? We will build him a parachute! The Three Billy GoatsGruff need a bridge - no problem, we will learn about how bridges are constructed, and even make our own. Join us to solve these problems and more!
~STOMP!~ What's that noise?! ~STOMP~ It's a DINOSAUR! Join us as we become junior archaeologists. We will study the characteristics of different types of dinosaurs, learn about how and why they are no longer here on Earth, dig for dinosaur bones, and even assemble our own dinosaur using fossils!
3...2...1... BLASTOFF! Take off with us on a trip to outer space! We will study a brief history of space flight, learn about the physics of rocketry, study the solar system including planets and the moon cycle, and finally launch a student-built rocket!
Travel throughout the African continent learning all about the animals, plants, natural resources, art, and culture. We will make several musical instruments, study carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores, learn about food chains, learn how to filter water, and study the Great Pyramids!
Who doesn't love magic??! In this class, we will use physical science to explain how magic happens. We will learn about states of matter (solids, liquids, and gasses), volume, and electricity... of course we will learn and practice some awesome magic tricks as well!
Woosh! We will learn all about our awesome planet as we zoom through space. Where is our planet located? What things are needed for life to exist? We will learn about seasons, shadows, erosion, climate, and even make our own dream house!
Let's travel to the mythical underwater city of Atlantis! How will we find it and how will we get there? What preparations do humans need to make to survive in an underwater world and what will we see when we get there? In order to answer these questions, we will train like archaeologists and explorers. We will learn about the oceans of the world, learn about forces that affect Earth's geography, how and why boats float, make a diving bell, learn about the undersea life that might live there now, and even make a working octopus tentacle!
STEAM to the rescue! Students LOVE superheroes, and in this unit, we focus on scientific superpowers like changes of state of matter, study and compare physical properties, phases, build electrical circuits, and more!
